Schneider Aventinus (50 cl bottle) 8,2%
I got a bottle from my friend Tommy who had ordered it through Systembolaget. It is rated as the 2nd best Weizen Bock at Ratebeer.
Style: Weizen Bock
Cost: 25,10 SEK (need to buy at least 20 bottles)
Bitterness——Sweetness—–Sourness—–Intensity——-Body
Appearance: 3/5
Brown reddish liquid with a small dirty white foam that very quickly dissapeared and didn’t leave any lacing.
Smell: 7/10
Fresh bananas, a hint of brandy, yeast.
Taste: 7/10
Fresh bananas, caramell, yeast. Fairly mild.
Mouthfeel: 4/5
A very easy to drink beer and the ABV is very well hidden. Feels like I could take on a couple of pints of this but I bet I would have to pay for it in the morning.
I like this beer and I’m really interested in trying more beers from the brewery. I’ve had their Eisbock of this beer (12,2%) and I actually think that is a better beer. I ended up giving it a 4,2 which is an excellent score.
Even though it’s quite strong I think this would be a good companion with most kinds of food. It’s thirst quenching yet has enough flavour to be interesting, but not enough to be overwhelming. If that makes any sense. Basically if you see it you should definitely try it.
